England’s Broadhurst handles the Cold and Rain to capture the Legacy Classic

Sam Broadhurst from Nuneaton, England tamed the cold, wind and rain to win the 2022 Legacy Classic at Alaqua Lakes. After an unusual cold front swept through central florida on Sunday, it brought with it extremely cold temperatures and lots of rain. After a Rd.1 Frost delay held things up a bit, Sam managed a 1-under par 71 leaving him 3-shots behind Cooper Collins who fired a -4 under 68. In round two, players were forced to deal with another cold day along with rain, Broadhurst bested the field by 3-shots closing with a -6under par 66 to finish at -7 under and win by 3 strokes over Peter Creighton and George Kneiser both finishing at -4 under (140). Rounding out the top 5 were Derek Bard at -3 (141), and Andrew Arft -2 (142). Kevin Aylwin finished alone 6th place at -1 under. No other players bested par on the 7160 yard Tom Fazio Layout. The FPGTour heads to New Smyrna Beach for the 57th Annual Indian River Open on February 5-6 at the NSB Municipal Golf course.
