Willie Mack III of Flint, MI has won the 60th Annual Riviera Open presented by Halifax Health. Willie bested a field of 132 top professionals and Amateurs with a two-day total -13 under par. The victory was worth $5500.00 and came on rounds of 65-64 for a three shot margin of victory over 2018 Champion Kevin Alywin (65-66) of New Smyrna Beach, Dillon Board (68-63) of Jacksonville, and
Austen Truslow (67-64) also from New Smyrna Beach.
In the Senior Division Bob Sowards of Dublin, OH was the victor shooting -7 under par (70-65) winning that division by two shots over David Moreland of Palm Coast, FL. Cliff Kresge of Knoxville, TN was 3rd at -3 (72-67). Rounding out the top 5 spots were Jeff Schmid of Iowa City, IA and Patrick Sheehan of Oviedo, FL both at -1 under par.
Varun Chopra from Champaign, IL was the Amateur Division winner at -9 under par (66-67). His margin of victory was two strokes over Zach Horne of Ormond Beach (68-67). Cole Bradley (69-70) and Nick Montes of Deland, FL (69-70) finished T-3. All amateurs were awarded Prize vouchers to be used in the pro-shop at Riviera Country Club.
The weather was almost perfect and the golf course was fantastic with green speeds at 11 on the stimp meter. Thanks again to Halifax Health for their sponsorship at this Iconic event.
