Tornado warnings, Lightning , Torrential rain and thunderstorms…..That’s what the Florida Professional Golf Tour faced on Sunday Morning prior to the start of the final round of this years 56th Annual IRO.
The overnight leader was Michael Visacki, last years Ocala Open Champion after an opening round of -8 under par 64, followed closely by Anthony Sebastianelli at -7 under. Four players were at -6 and another 7 players at -5 under par.
After closely monitoring the weather forecasted for Sunday, a decision was made to postpone the start of the final round 1 hour with the goal to complete as many hole as possible before darkness forced us to stop play.
In the end the decision worked perfectly, and the final group reached their final hole with 15 minutes of daylight left.
In the end, Visacki ended with a final round of -6 under 66 and a three shot margin of victory over Tim O’Neal (66-67) and Brendon Doyle (68-65).Joe Durrant (PGA Tour Champions) and FPGTour Season money leader Willie Mack III rounded out the top 5 finishing at -10 under par.
My thanks to all competitors who stepped up on Sunday, played without delay, and made it possible to complete this Championship.
My condolences to the Aylwin family on the recent loss of course superintendent Danny Aylwin….He was truly one of the best.
