After opening this years Volusia County Open with a -9 under 63, Pete Kellerman of Jacksonville, FL set out to conquer the cold temperatures at Venetian Bay by closing the event with a -7 under par 65 for a 2-day total of -16 under par and a winning margin of 9 strokes. Sean McGuire of Twinsburg, OH also opened with a -9 under par 63, but the wind and the cold left him struggling and he closed with 74. PGA Professional Jeff Sorenson of Blaine, MN followed his opening round of 71 with the second lowest score on day two at -3 under 69. Dennis Hendershott of Paris, Ontario along with David Wicks of Jacksonville Beach each finished T-3 at -6 under par. Zack Carrabine rounded out the top 5 finishers at -5 under with rounds of 67-72. Kellermann picked up $2300.00 for the victory from the $7500.00 purse. The Florida Professional Golf Tour heads to New Smyrna Beach Golf Club next weekend for the 55th Annual Indian River Open on February 6-7. There are still a few spots available for this iconic event.
