The 2023 Wildwood Open at Continental Country Club drew a strong field this year bringing 100 plus players to do battle on the newly renovated Country Club grounds. When competition in the regular division closed there were 7 players tied at -10 under par, 3 of which had vacated the premises hours earlier. The four who were still on property headed out for a sudden death play-off which only lasted two holes before Matt Nagy was crowned the Champion making the only birdie on the par 5 10th hole for victory and claim the $5000 first place winners check. This was Matt’s second victory at Wildwood claiming his first back in 2019. Congrats on the victory Matt.
This year also marked the addition of a Senior Division at the Wildwood Open which drew a total of 16 players (all over the age of 50). Patrick Sheehan held the overnight lead by one stroke over Rob Sullivan and Jay Jurecic who both opened with 2-under 70’s. By late Sunday, Jay Jurecic found some magic firing a closing round of -5 under 67 to post a 2-day total of -7 under par and a 7 shot margin of victory and claim the Senior Championship and a $1300 first place check. By the way, the Senior division played the exact same course, from the exact same tees as the regular division, proving that these guys can still play some some golf. Great playing Jay
